Some maps are changed slightly, but i keep close to the original map and ai design as possible. For balance reasons I cut the starting units, resources and population limit in half for each player.Selectmods and search for the extension of population limit, keep looking for a limit your happy with. Thismod is an unlimited-population + better units mod. It lets you have unlimited outposts, town centers, ships, and settlers. Outposts cost A LOT less, and there are some over powered units. In EE, since patch 2.8 you can change the 300 hard pop limit by editing startup folder and adding (replace XXX with the positive integer of your choice): populationcap=XXX. AI unit movement, collision etc. Sure they can increase the cap limit with lower player numbers but probably they tested it doesn't scale well over 1000 units. Probably it costs more per Aoe4 unit than the total war games since total war you can't control individual units. Total war is optimized for that.
