That would block the exhaust gas flow through the EGR system, in effect the same as an EGR delete. However it will set codes. Engine will come up to temp more slowly-no exhaust gas flow through the EGR cooler. Blanking plate with hole - in theory it is sold to avoid getting MIL on the dash from non-working EGR. More like $100 for a EGR CEL delete. We have done an EGR modified delete. We drill a very small hole into the block off plate and make it larger until the CEL clears. The hole size is sometimes 1/4"", but it does eliminate much of the EGR flow and costs only a little time. There is also the 'adaptations' section of the VCDS.
